video stills 'Proposition 4: The Search for Meaning'
About the search for the boundary between abstraction and figuration, and how (narrative) film stands between them. The objects change function at a certain moment: from a function that can contribute to a story, to a more abstract function in which the objects lose their actual purpose and are brought to the fore. They turn into dead extras, casting doubt on their previous function. The focus is placed on the mere existence of the objects without losing their poetic value.
